I’m composer and sound designer for the project opening in June 2013 at the Noel Coward Theatre in London’s West End as part of the first season from the Michael Grandage Company - which also includes performances by Judy Dench, Jude Law and Ben Whishaw. News April 2013…

A busy time here heading into Spring/Summer 2013. Privileged to be working with Michael Grandage during his first west end residency at the Noel Coward for The Cripple of Inishmaan, followed soon after by three stunning plays at Shakespeare’s Globe directed by the lovely Nick Bagnall, Henry VI parts I, II and III which will also tour this summer. Over in New York I’ll be opening Cornelius at 59e59 directed by Sam Yates, and for the Manchester International Festival I’m working alongside sound designer Peter Rice for The Masque of Anarchy directed by Sarah Frankcom.

Out of the theatre I’m also excited to soon be working on another feature film project (after the BAFTA success earlier this year for McCullin) as well as working on an album project of my own music. More details to come about those later in the year…

Lurpak “The Cook” for Wieden + Kennedy

I’ve recently composed the music for Lurpak‘s new worldwide advertising campaign “The Cook” for Wieden + Kennedy. Directed by Scott Lyon and featuring the voice of Blade Runner’s Rutger Hauer, the score was recorded in Abbey Road Studio 2 in March 2013 with the London Metropolitan Orchestra and Choir. First aired in Europe this week, it will come to the UK later this year.

Waitrose “The Story Of The Farmer And The Precious Egg” for BBH

I’ve just completed scoring the new TV campaign for Waitrose produced by London agency Bartle Bogle Hegarty (BBH). “The Story of the Farmer and the Precious Egg” starts broadcasts from today (17th April). It’s a lovely short film directed by the talented duo Thirtytwo at Pulse Films.

BIAFRA and MUSICA UNIVERSALIS released on violinist Daniel Hope’s new album “Spheres”

Two of my pieces have been featured on Daniel Hope’s new album Spheres released by Deutsche Grammophon in the UK & Europe (USA early in March 2013). Musica Universalis was commissioned for Daniel especially for the album, whilst Biafra is a new arrangement of my piece of the same name from my soundtrack to film McCullin (nominated for the two BAFTA’s, my film soundtrack is available on iTunes here).

Other composers on Spheres collaborating with Daniel include Max Richter, Ludovico Einaudi, Philip Glass and Gabriel Prokofiev.

Below is a film of Daniel recording Musica Universalis in Berlin last year (the film comes as a bonus on the digital download of the album).

Macbeth in the West End with James McAvoy

I’m presently composing music and sound for Macbeth directed by Jamie Lloyd – the first production as part of his Trafalgar Transformed season in the radically redesigned Trafalgar Studio in the West End. Designed by award winning Soutra Gilmour for Jamie Lloyd Productions and ATG, the cast includes James McAvoy and Claire Foy.

Very happy to be working with Jamie again after the success of The Faith Machine at the Royal Court Theatre in 2011. Tickets for the show are already sold out, although there is limited availability on some nights as more seats become available. Macbeth opens for previews on 9th Feb and runs for ten weeks. More information about tickets etc here.
