Merchant of Venice and Hobson’s Choice

After a rather busy May, two projects I’ve been working on have recently opened to great critical success. The first being Shakespeare’s Merchant of Venice directed by Rupert Goold at the RSC who turned a few heads setting the play in modern day Las Vegas (complete with 8-piece big band and numerous Elvis songs given a modern twist by myself and Adam Cork).

Read the Guardian review for Merchant here.

The second was a new production of Harold Brighouse’s Hobson’s Choice at the Sheffield Crucible directed by Christopher Luscombe.. here’s a little snippet of my score from the production…

RSC Merchant of Venice directed by Rupert Goold

Very pleased to be back working with Rupert Goold on his production of Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice opening at the RSC’s brand new Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon, where I’ll be collaborating with Tony Award winning composer/sound designer Adam Cork. Rehearsals are already underway in London, with the production opening in May 2011. It stars Patrick Stewart as Shylock.
