Bassett at Bristol Old Vic

I’ve been working again with director Anthony Banks on soundscapes for Bassett written by James Graham, showing at the Bristol Old Vic from 7 – 11 September. A collaboration with National Theatre Connections.

Rose at the Edinburgh Fringe

I’ve just started rehearsals for Rose written by Hywel John and staring Keira and Art Malik, opening at the Pleasance Courtyard this August as part of the Edinburgh Fringe festival. Directed by Abbey Wright (who I previously worked with on the NT’s Frankenstein) I’ll be composer and sound designer for the project. This is the second production I’ll be taking up to Edinburgh this year, the first being 2Faced Dance’s In The Dust.

In The Dust – 2Faced Dance

I’ve been commissioned to score a twenty minute music piece as part of 2Faced Dance’s In The Dust showing at the Edinburgh fringe Zoo venue this summer and going on a subsequent European tour. The piece is called Seven Point Zero – listen to and purchase the album from the music player below.

“Tamsin Fitzgerald finishes the piece based on her visit to Haiti one year after the earthquake… visually and aurally arresting and filled with bruised emotions that are passionately and tenderly performed. Added to the mix is Alex Baranowski’s sensational soundtrack – it is hard not to be deeply moved.” www.thepublicreviews.com

Merchant of Venice and Hobson’s Choice

After a rather busy May, two projects I’ve been working on have recently opened to great critical success. The first being Shakespeare’s Merchant of Venice directed by Rupert Goold at the RSC who turned a few heads setting the play in modern day Las Vegas (complete with 8-piece big band and numerous Elvis songs given a modern twist by myself and Adam Cork).

Read the Guardian review for Merchant here.

The second was a new production of Harold Brighouse’s Hobson’s Choice at the Sheffield Crucible directed by Christopher Luscombe.. here’s a little snippet of my score from the production…

Frankenstein directed by Danny Boyle

After months of work, Frankenstein has just opened to great reviews at the National Theatre. I’ve been working with amazing electro duo Underworld (Rick Smith and Karl Hyde) as well as grammy award winning mix engineer Simon Gogerly on the music and sound to the show directed by Danny Boyle. Watch out for the live cinema broadcasts on 17th and 24th March.

Blue Dragon, Made in England and Frankenstein

I’ve just composed the music for a series of 5 TV ads for Blue Dragon, which are on air in the UK currently. Here is one of the five;

I’m also in the middle of composing a 30 min documentary for Century Films called Made in England which will be broadcast on Channel 4 mid Feb 2011.

Last but certainly not least I’m working with electro duo Underworld on the sound and music to Danny Boyle’s Frankenstein opening at the National Theatre early Feb 2011.

Frankenstein directed by Danny Boyle

Very pleased to announce I’m presently working with electro duo Underworld, arranging the score to the much anticipated Frankenstein directed by Oscar winning Danny Boyle, and opening at the National’s Olivier Theatre in February 2011.

Herding Cats

I’m composing and sound designing new play Herding Cats written by Lucinda Coxon and directed by Anthony Banks. It will be opening 7th December in the lovely Theatre Royal, Bath and will play until 18th December, after which it will transfer to London in the new year.

Read more about the production on the Theatre Royal’s website here.

Hamlet Soundtrack

Here’s a sneak preview of my Hamlet score (featuring the wonderful Iskra String Quartet) which is showing at the National until Jan 2011, with a worldwide cinema broadcast  on 9th December 2010. Enjoy!

“Hamlet” opening for previews..

We’re just about to go into previews for Hamlet at the National Theatre’s Olivier Theatre, where I’ve been working with director Sir Nicholas Hytner. Later in the year, Hamlet will also be broadcast live to cinemas around the world on 9th December as part of the National’s second NT Live season… and subsequently go on a European tour.

Much of my score has been recorded with the Iskra String quartet – read more about them on their website.

More information about the production can be found on the Royal National Theatre’s website.
