Very proud to have contributed to the new album by the Iskra String Quartet entitled Iskra with new composition “For Then”. I’ve known and collaborated with the quartet for a number of years having featured on a number of my projects including Hamlet at the National Theatre and the BAFTA nominated McCullin – so was very happy to be asked to compose a new piece for the album. Other composers featured on the album include Jóhann Jóhannsson, David Julyan and another long time collaborator, cellist and composer Peter Gregson.
The album was launched at the Union Chapel in Islington and I even made a rare live appearance performing “For Then” with the quartet on the piano which was a joy.
Iskra has been released on 1631 Recordings and be purchased from here.
Proud to have collaborated again with Mercury winning band The xx for their biggest live show to date at the Hollywood Bowl with the LA Philharmonic Orchestra. The arrangements were overseen and conducted by David Campbell… based on The xx Symphony which was performed last year by the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, live on Radio 1 for Zane Lowe.
It’s been an absolute pleasure working with The xx and BBC Philharmonic Orchestra (conducted by Clark Rundell) along with Radio 1 for The xx Symphony in Bridlington, Yorkshire. Thanks for everyone involved who made it happen – an experience I’ll never forget. I’ve posted some more pictures of the event and rehearsals on my blog here. [update] It’s not available to watch on iPlayer any more although there is a low-res version on Youtube which I’ve linked to on my Listen/Watch page. Hopefully a higher resolution video will surface soon!

Very happy to announce I’m presently collaborating with Mercury prize winning band The xx and the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra for a concert on the 19th September which will be broadcast live on Radio 1 for Zane Lowe. It will be a mixture of new orchestral arrangements of songs from “xx” and the forthcoming “Coexist” which will be released on September 10th. Tickets will be made available via a random draw..
