Nureyev recording at Abbey Road with the London Metropolitan Orchestra

It has been a busy start to 2017… the first project of which to see the light of day is my score to Nureyev which was recently recorded by the London Metropolitan Orchestra under the baton of Andy Brown at Abbey Road Studio 1 (with choir conducted by Nigel Short). Directed by Jacqui Morris (with whom I previously scored the multi BAFTA nominated McCullin and the multi award winning Attacking The Devil); it is an incredibly beautiful documentary of the life of ballet dancer Rudolph Nureyev, told solely through never before seen archive and newly commissioned choreography.

I’ll be releasing an accompanying album closer to the theatrical release, and perhaps a couple of teasers before that…

Here’s a snap from the session (along with engineer/mixer Joe Rubel, conductor Andy Brown, Abbey Road engineers Toby and Stefano, and players from the London Metropolitan Orchestra).

“Radio Jones And His Robot Dad” animated app by Oscar nominated Smith & Foulkes

I had immense pleasure writing the score for Smith & Foulkes’ animated app Radio Jones and his Robot Dad. All created from live instruments dotting around my studio, including a piano which hadn’t been tuned for a decade that had just been delivered! Thanks to the brilliant Siren Music and Nexus Productions… this is amongst many award winning animated collaborations with this brilliant team including BBC One Christmas’ “Spout Boy”, The Grand National’s “The Outsider” and Channel 4’s “Stand Up To Cancer”.

4Creative “Stand Up To Cancer” 2 min commercial

I’ve recently composed the music for this brilliant 2 min commercial for 4Creative’s latest campaign Stand Up For Cancer, a partnership between Channel 4 and Cancer Research UK. It is being rolled out to cinemas nationwide this weekend and broadcast across more than one hundred commercial channels on Sunday night (7th Sept)… and subsequently for the next month working up to a dedicated night on Channel 4 in October.

Directed by Oscar nominated Nexus directors Adam Foulkes and Alan Smith, I worked alongside music production company SIREN on the epic score featuring orchestra and dark male voice choir. Epic.

Made in England – 7.30pm, Channel 4, 18th Feb

I’ve written the music to the Channel 4 documentary Made in England produced by Century Films. A film about Cooper and Stollbrand, one of the last surviving clothes factories in Salford, director Satnam Authi followed the machinists and management in their busy run up to Christmas producing items for many well known British high street brands.

The whole programme is available to watch on 4oD here.

I’ve posted some music clips from the programme below;

Blue Dragon, Made in England and Frankenstein

I’ve just composed the music for a series of 5 TV ads for Blue Dragon, which are on air in the UK currently. Here is one of the five;

I’m also in the middle of composing a 30 min documentary for Century Films called Made in England which will be broadcast on Channel 4 mid Feb 2011.

Last but certainly not least I’m working with electro duo Underworld on the sound and music to Danny Boyle’s Frankenstein opening at the National Theatre early Feb 2011.
