Thrilled that two shows I had a great deal of pleasure working on last year have been nominated for the 2012 Oliver awards;
Salt, Root and Roe for the Donmar Warehouse’s season at Trafalgar Studios was nominated for Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre. I was composer and sound designer on the piece.. one of my favourites, much of the music from the show is available to listen to in my Listen/Watch section.
Frankenstein at the National Theatre was nominated for Best Sound Design – working alongside Underworld and Ed Clarke on the music and sound score, I was Music Associate on the production directed by Danny Boyle. The show will be repeated at cinema screenings this summer across the UK and rest of the world as part of NT Live.
Very happy to see Danny Boyle’s Frankenstein (NT Olivier), Daniel Evans’ Othello (Sheffield Crucible) and Rupert Goold’s Merchant of Venice (RSC Stratford) were amongst Michael Billington’s top shows of 2011. I’ve been immensely proud of having a large involvement in the music / sound for all three shows (Frankenstein working with Underworld, Merchant of Venice working with Adam Cork). After months of work, Frankenstein has just opened to great reviews at the National Theatre. I’ve been working with amazing electro duo Underworld (Rick Smith and Karl Hyde) as well as grammy award winning mix engineer Simon Gogerly on the music and sound to the show directed by Danny Boyle. Watch out for the live cinema broadcasts on 17th and 24th March.
